‘ Rally of Turkey 2005 ‘ is coming
with the highest participation of the season with
85 entries. The biggest surprise is Hakan Sükür,
the captain of Galatasaray and The National Football
Team, will take the start with a course car and
meet motor sports for the first time.
The first press conference for the Rally of Turkey;
the 7th leg of the World Rally Championship; which
is organized by Turkish Automobile and Motorsports
Federation, has been held in famous Raina Club
of Istanbul in May 16, 2005.
Rally of Turkey had the highest participation
until now with 85 entries from 27 different countries.
Also, there is a surprise this year. Hakan Sukur,
one of the famous football players who also represents
Turkey abroad with success, will be with us. He
will take a start with one of the course cars
and meet the motor sports. Hakan Sükür; who is
the flash name and one of the most popular football
players in Turkey; will make the first step to
the solidarity of these two sports branches.
Turkey reached the top for the international
organizations at the motorsports branch and Sükür
gave the best example that different sport branches
and mass can come together. He also stated ‘ I
am very happy to take the start with a course
car in an organization with so much spectators
are expected and representing my country. And
I am also happy to be together with the precious
sportsmen. I would like to thank to the Turkish
Automobile and Motorsports Federation, providing
me the chance to be in a stage where the fastest
drivers of the world will be.
The President of TOMSFED, Mr. Mumtaz Tahincioglu
stated ‘ I am very pleased that the Rally of Turkey
has the highest participation for this season
till now. With WRC, to be on the TV screens of
186 country is very special for us. We are ready
to run the event. This season, Turkey is full
of motorsports such as Formula 1, World Rally
Championship, FIA GT Championship, World Cross-Country
Championship, The European Rally Championship,
International Karting, LeManse Endurance Series,
DTM, World Turing Car Championship, all will be
in Turkey in this year.
Hakan Sukur represented Turkey with success all
over the world and the idea came into life for
that reason. We are very happy to see him with
succesful drivers. I would like to thank to the
media, the sponsors, the association and everyone
involved in this organization and wish success
to all participants.’
