WRC HAS 772 MILLION SPECTATORS ALL AROUND THE WORLD
 

WRC, one of the world’s most popular motorsports organization has increased the number of spectators from 2001, 497 million; to 2004, 772 million with a growth rate of 55%.

International Sportsworld Communicators Ltd. (ISC), the global TV and commercial rights holders for the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), today released the figures stating that how this sport grown so much adding that it reached the youngest audiences over last five years.
As known, Turkey hosts one of the 16 World Rally Championship organization, which starts at June, 2 till June, 5 2005. The organization will be broadcasted from 186 country’s televisions, which gives a great chance to advertising and increase the prestige of the country. The ISC gives the criterias of their research:

• WRC now has a greater number of global TV viewers, fewer repeat programmes and better broadcast schedules than ever before in its history.

• WRC’s total cumulative audience since 2001 has grown by 55% from 497 million to 772 million by the end of 2004.

• WRC now broadcasts in 186 territories worldwide.

• WRC has substantially increased its global television coverage, not only in its European heartland but also in key emerging territories such as Asia, South America, USA and the Middle East.

• The audience per hour of WRC has increased from 311,000 in 2002 to 465,000 in 2004, demonstrating its success in improving broadcast schedules, plus the total number of broadcasts has risen 26% since 2001.

• Research illustrates that WRC has amongst the youngest audience profiles of all motorsport genres in Europe. (Independent research carried out by TNS Sport.)

• Over 4 million PlayStation® WRC games have been sold since 2001.

• WRC’s official website www.wrc.com now has 323,000 returning visitors each month, with an average visit duration of 15 minutes. In 2004, www.wrc.com served 180 million page impressions.

RALLY OF TURKEY 2005

The 7th leg of WRC, which is organized by Turkish Automobile and Motorsports Federation, will take the start as the 3rd Turkish Rally from Antalya between June, 2-5. The Grand Haber Hotel hosts the Rally as HQ, and it is expected that; because it is the start of the summer; the spectator interest will be much more higher than the previous years. With the help of press, announcements and campaigns, TOMSFED tries to make people aware of the organization. As shown above, the data given is also an indicator that the interest of the spectators will reach to higher levels as time passes.
Rally of Turkey will start with the Super Special Stage, which was built last year in the Akdeniz University Campus at June, 2. Also, the Lassa Shakedown, which will be held in the morning of the same day will be run in Kuzdere during 08:00-14:00 hours.

With the change made this year, The SSS will be run three times (including Friday and Saturday) this year. With the start of the cars as a pair side by side, it will be the most interesting part of the rally which the spectators can enjoy from different grandstand choices. After the first SSS at Thursday, the rally will continue at June,3 morning time at the special stages of Kemer and Kumluca. The race will last three days and finish will be in the Service Area at Kemer. Also, this season, the championship category, which is known as PWRC, will be run during the Rally of Turkey. All of 20 registered PWRC drivers have chosen Rally of Turkey in possible 6 out of 8 events.
With the total length of 885 km, the special stages are about 350 km. There will be 3 legs and 10 parts. There are 9 different stages, and a total of 18 legs will be run (SSS, Phaselis, Arykanda, Perge, Myra, Silyon, Chimera, Olympos).

SPECTATOR ALTERNATIVES

The spectators who want to watch this organization full of speed and fun can get the tickets of the SSS’s from Biletix which will be held three times day after day (10 Euro’s per day). Students will get 50% discount and the capacity of the tribunes is more than 10.000 person.
There are package programs to reach to the other special stages, which are free. Including transfer and lunch box, the cars will transport the spectators from Rally HQ Grand Haber Hotel with a fee of 30 YTL.
